As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we support grieving mothers in our community as they navigate the unimaginable pain of losing a child to homicide. Our mission is to foster HEALING through connection, offering support groups, community meetups, and safe spaces where mothers can lean on one another.
Homicide Grief Support
After dealing with the tragic loss of her father, Katie Wiggins founded Healing Roots to help support others as they navigate the grief of losing a loved one to homicide. Through this loss, Katie began helping mothers who have lost children to murder through comunity support finding that when we meet in groups, we heal each other.
"As a result of my son’s (Dorian pictured) life being taken by a vicious shooter in 2017, therapy was crucial for me. Trying to understand why this happened to me and how to move forward, were my main objectives. Although I saw therapists, I didn’t feel any significant progress. After connecting with Katie and Healing Roots, I feel I have made “significant” progress. This may be due to the fact that she has experienced the same type of loss. This helps me to open up and feel understood. Katie is open and nonjudgmental, allowing me the space to share with no inhibitions. What sets Katie apart from other therapists is that she offers prayer for you and your circumstances. I can unequivocally state that through therapy with Katie, I recognize my progress and my healing is taking place."
